Gegen 01 — GEGEN BERLIN

GEGEN is a complex word in German because it has two opposite meanings.

Historically speaking it means "against", signifying all the counter cultural movements since the very beginning of youth cultures but If you apply the word to time, it means "around". One meaning is closed, defined in terms of space. The other is open and undefined in terms of time.

This basic tension gives the spaces and the times for a new proposal to blossom from the ashes of the historical and infamous queer techno party called SABOT°AGE BERLIN which characterized fades of mutation in some of the wildest Friederichshain nights.

The aim is responding to the flatting process of queer gentrification by playing with the solitude of GEGEN political meanings as a game of pop art to defy identitarian mechanisms. Do you need to be “against” to define your own identity? We invite you to escape identity patterns by destroying every rational thought. GEGEN is composed by a party-geography of different spaces, reflecting its contents in a mirror game of specularities.

The main dancefloor GEGENTANZ is techno oriented with the freshest scene of queer and queer positive Techno Djs, Vjs, Producers and Labels connecting Berlin with the entire world. The dancefloor will be an open space for a queer-o-rama of intra sexual, class and ethnic mutations from fems-in-space to transbears, through content generated dancers getting out of b/order in loving menace.

The second floor will reveal a hidden world of obscure frequencies and white noises, performance art and spoken words. It is the World of THE DARKNESSa party promoted by furry animals and gender ectoplasms like Tom Ass, Daniel Blair and Her Royal Whiteness. This space is going to host line ups of freaks and monsters as a dead loungen to exercise extra sensorial powers and self combustions in a dialectical opposition to the main dance floor.

Every edition is going to host site oriented installations by different queer artists in the spaces of the bar and the dark room and a different queer photographer is going to be the excentric eye signing the pictures of every event.
