Nothing should be the way it used to be! Or: everything has to remain as if nothing had ever happened! Just a little better! How can we party with all the experiences that the pandemic has taught us? What can the uncertainties of an irritated society offer? Have we become more sensitive? For our differences? For intimacy? Can the loud bass drum distort everything even further?

Consequences are not only wise conclusions, but also annoying educational and authoritative measures, sanctions for deviation from the norm. They are penalties. And if they wouldn't be there, everything could collapse. Inconsistency would invite chaos.

But even without any human intervention: at some point, some kind of consequences will follow, and occasionally even quite surprising ones. So why not relax in the here and now? Our immediate decisions can never be without mistakes, so it is enough to wait and judge the long-term consequences. We won't know more until the day after tomorrow. But who will then judge the rightness? Is it the common good or one's own that matters most?

We encounter an uncertain future - with the certainty that we are at a turning point. GEGEN CONSEQUENCE is meant to be a safe space for careful uncertainty and for a coexistence of manifold versions of ourselves. Let us be new.
